The Ovivo Type C4D spiral bladed clarifier provides a rapid return of the collected sludge for fresh, highly concentrated biosolids and high quality effluent. The spiral blades coupled with the rotating sludge collection drum will assure the Owner of a plug free sludge collection experience.

Ovivo circular clarifiers have been used in clarification for over 80 years. They present consistent and reliable results for numerous applications throughout the industry.  The Ovivo cast-iron, oil lubricated drives are best choice for long life, low maintenance, dependable equipment in the harsh atmosphere of wastewater and industrial applications.

Ovivo’s clarifier design provides trouble-free and quick installation. The variety of options available and Ovivo’s clarification experts will help you select the right equipment for your specific application.

The spiral bladed clarifier mechanism uses the fundamental principal of gravity separation of solids from liquid to produce a clarified overflow water and sludge. The sludge accumulated at the bottom of the clarifier is then scraped to the center and removed.

Mixed liquor enters the clarifier through a center column and is discharged into the energy dissipating inlet (EDI) through influent ports in the center column.

The EDI dissipates the kinetic energy of the influent mixed liquor flow. Evenly spaced tangentially oriented scoops or vanes in the EDI shell create a controlled and quiescent discharge of the mixed liquor into the flocculating feedwell to enhance flow distribution and flocculation. For a high efficiency energy dissipating inlet see Ovivo’s EquaFlo 360™ EDI.

The flocculating feedwell promotes flocculation of the mixed liquor suspended solids. It allows for a gradual redirection of the flow velocity into the clarifier and the sedimentation of the flocs creating a sludge blanket at the bottom of the tank.

Designed for rapid sludge removal, the Ovivo Type C4D Clarifier features a spiral blade design coupled to a rotating sludge collection drum. The blades are constructed to a logarithmic spiral curve with a constant 30 degree angle of attack. They are supported by two sludge removal arms of steel truss construction. Blades are equipped with adjustable 20 gauge 304 stainless steel squeegees for a better resistance to abrasion. Blade depth varies with the clarifier size and the bottom slope.  The sludge drum is a circular manifold attached to the bottom end of the center cage and is sealed around the center column and to the tank floor. The drum rotates with the cage and encompasses the sludge discharge pipe which terminates at the tank floor level. The drum has an opening located in front of each rake blade, 180 degrees apart. This blade and drum configuration provides highly concentrated sludge. Shipped to the site in just two pieces, the sludge drum is easy to handle and install. The drum does not clog and requires little maintenance.

Oviov’s cast-iron, oil lubricated drives are equipped with bearings, worms and pinion mounted on a precisely machined surface. In every drive a high quality solid pinion maintains alignment and gives better resistance to bending and deflection under loads. Mating parts are machined to precise tolerances to assure precise fit and alignment. Every drive part is fully restrained (top and bottom) with no overhung loads. Main bearings are fully restrained into base. Worm gear reducer, single solid pinion, single solid worm / worm shaft and main gear all meet the latest AGMA (American Gear Manufacturers’ Association) standards.

Each drive is equipped with an overload control device activated by thrust from the worm shaft. This drive control includes a clear plastic enclosure and a weatherproof enclosure of epoxy coated aluminum construction with electro-mechanical switches.
