Ovivo® is a proud sponsor of the 2019 AquaHacking Challenge
In recent years Ovivo has sponsored the AquaHacking Challenge, playing a crucial role in spreading the word about the competition as well as providing assistance to the many teams working to solve water issues. The 2019 competition is in full swing and Ovivo is yet again in the midst of it, working with young hackers as they compete to help solve a variety of problems. As worldwide experts in water treatment, Ovivo is committed to assisting in the discovery of new solutions to the water challenges that we continue to face.
The AquaHacking Challenge, which started in 2015, is an annual competition that allows young water technology leaders to tackle various water issues that are plaguing our world. 18-35 year old students and young professionals from the United States and Canada are eligible to participate in the competition in teams of at least two.
This year’s AquaHacking Challenge is focused on the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Watershed basin, with the three main themes being climate change and community resilience, drinking water, and waste/contaminants in water. Each participating team must choose one of these issues to work on with support and assistance from experts representing organizations that are also working on these issues.
Competition lasts for 7 months, beginning with registration in mid-February and ending with the finale event in late September. The top five teams are due to be announced in July, with mentoring taking place through August before the finale in late September. Prizes for the top five teams range from $2,500-$20,000 for investment in their winning water issue solutions.
The registration deadline for this year’s competition has passed, but the registration for the next year’s challenge should open around February of 2020. Keep an eye out on the AquaHacking Challenge page for more information on dates, upcoming themes, and much more.
