Aerobic Treatment / Nutrient Removal
Aerobic wastewater treatment is an extremely cost and energy efficient process for removal of BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand). In the presence of oxygen, the organisms feed on complex materials present in wastewater and convert them into simpler substances. Wastewater also contains high levels of nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus. Nitrogen is typically removed through biological oxidation whereas Phosphorus, biologically, or relying on chemical precipitation.
