In a conversation with Martin Jackson, Sales Manager at Ovivo, we explore his journey from a background in environmental engineering to becoming a leader in water treatment. His career path, shaped by diverse experiences and a deep commitment to sustainability, sheds light on the growing importance of water in our interconnected world.

His Journey:

Martin’s journey into water treatment began not in an office but on the banks of a river in Brook Park, Ohio, where he spent weekends fishing with his dad. “We went throughout the United States and Canada fishing every year together. It was not only bonding but also very nice being out in the environment, living off the land.” This early appreciation for clean water stayed with him throughout his career, which spanned over four decades.

With a background in business, Martin started in the machine tool industry, focusing on water recycling for 17 years. He later joined AlarTM where he spent 16 years before it was acquired by Ovivo in 2020. Since the acquisition, he quickly fell in love with the technology, especially the use of SiC membrane technology to effectively concentrate water and produce clean water and dry solids, eliminating sludge. For Martin, this technology is key to improving water quality across industries.

The Significance of Water:

To Martin, water is more than just a resource; it’s the backbone of life itself. He mentions, “My heart has been with water since I was a kid, from fishing with my dad to enjoying it with my children and grandchildren”. Growing up surrounded by nature, he understood early on that the health of natural environments was tied to the quality of the water that sustains them. This awareness has only strengthened throughout his career.

Martin’s role in water treatment is about ensuring that the vital resource is used efficiently and sustainably in industrial settings. Each field impacts the broader environment, and Martin is passionate about making sure that impact is positive, helping industries reduce their water footprint and minimize discharge into the ecosystem.

Why Water with Ovivo?

At Ovivo, Martin has found a company that aligns with his vision for a sustainable water future. He’s drawn to how Ovivo’s solutions are innovative, efficient and focused on addressing some of the biggest challenges in the water industry.

For Martin, Ovivo’s approach isn’t just about cleaning water, it’s about helping ensure a sustainable supply of clean water for future generations.

What Does the Future of Water Treatment Look Like?

Looking ahead, Martin sees a future where water treatment continues to evolve, with even more emphasis on sustainability and innovation. He envisions a future where water is treated not only for reuse but also in a way that minimizes environmental impact and maximizes efficiency.

Martin believes that with companies like Ovivo leading the way, the future of water treatment will be about smarter, more sustainable solutions. He sees advances in technology as playing a key role in shaping what’s next for the industry. For Martin, our focus on research and development, along with its strong partnerships, will be crucial in making sure water treatment keeps up with the growing challenges we face globally.
