Ovivo integrates EDI systems from the main product manufacturers into complete water treatment plant to meet customer requirements.

EDI systems are normally located downstream of a Reverse Osmosis system to provide polishing to <0.1 µS/cm. This combination is particularly suited to smaller flows and removes the risks and hazards associated with handling bulk chemicals on site.

As water passes through the EDI module ion exchange resins remove the contaminants from the water to very low levels.  The resins are sandwiched between ion selective membranes arranged alternately to allow either cations or anions to pass through.

A small side stream of the feed water passes down the reject channels produced by the membrane sandwich. A current is applied across the resin and membrane sandwich resulting in regeneration of the resins and the ions being rejected
