For example: Jaspers beef and lamb processing plants in Cornwall in the United Kingdom were spending around £100,000 per annum on the disposal of wastewater. In addition they were using 17,000m3 of potable water per annum including the costly consumption for low grade wash down applications. An Ovivo membrane bioreactor allowed Jaspers to reuse between 60 and 90% of its water, exceeding final effluent quality requirements and yielding a net saving of around £90,000 per annum. The system will pay for itself in less than five years.
