ATC Tube Cleaning System
Power and Industrial Plants are considered to be some of the largest global users of water. The type, quality and volume of water taken into a plant has an enormous impact on plant operation as well as on our environment in general. Water is predominantly used for plant cooling purposes, (in heat exchangers or condensers, for example). The presence of debris, salts and minerals, will have a negative impact on plant performance and availability and on operating and maintenance costs. Ovivo offers some of the world’s best technologies and expertise in this field, utilising heritage brands such as: Brackett Green, Kennicott, Christ Water Technology.
Fouling of condenser and heat exchange tubes reduces plant efficiency.
Coarse as well as fibrous and other debris should be removed before it enters the plant in order to avoid damage to pumps and pipework and fouling of plant and equipment. Debris caused macro-fouling forces to periodically clean the heat exchangers or condensers, a process which requires a partial or complete plant shut down and results in reduced plant availability and loss of revenue. For base load plants, where partial outage for cleaning is not feasible, plants are forced to operate at lower efficiency and the use of fuels to maintain plant output is increased. The higher fuel consumption will result in increased air pollutants from the plant.
Minerals and other suspended material can cause scale build-up and the growth of microbiological deposits inside heat exchangers and condensers. Such micro-fouling affects the performance of plant equipment and reduce their energy efficiency.
In order to remove any gross debris in the cooling water that build up on the tube sheet of condensers, a self-cleaning, fully automatic debris filter is installed in the feed cooling water line.
The use of on-line automatic tube cleaning systems prevents the build-up of chemical scale and microbiological deposits within the tubes and related degradation of equipment and performance. This not only increases plant energy efficiency and reduces maintenance costs but also reduces the pollutants associated with increased fuel consumption.
