Biological Aerobic Treatment
Biological wastewater treatment is an extremely cost effective and energy efficient system for the removal of BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand), since only, naturally occurring, micro-organisms are used. These micro-organisms feed on the complex materials present in the wastewater and convert them into simpler substances, preparing the water for further treatment. Aerobic wastewater treatment is a biological process that takes place in the presence of oxygen. Ovivo offer an array of technologies (MBR’s, IFAS, SAF, RBC’s, HBNR, AS systems, Carrousel® systems), which encourage this natural process to thrive, producing consistent, high quality, results.
Carrousel® is a registered trademark of DHV, B.V.
Typical uses
Conventional aerobic treatment consists of an activated sludge process or oxidation lagoons. The size of these can be reduced, and tolerances against fluctuations in loads and toxics can be controlled in various ways, such as, by integrating moving bed bioreactors into the activated sludge treatment.
As technology advances, systems are becoming increasingly convenient, more efficient, and smaller in size. The process of treating our wastewater, for reuse, is very much a part of what Ovivo does – it is where we specialise in creating value in water. After all, why throw it down the drain, when it makes much more sense to reuse it!
Range
There are a variety of different technologies that can perform biological wastewater treatment:
- Mechanical aerators,
- Air diffusers,
- Membrane Bioreactors (MBR),
- Carrousel oxidation system,
- Rotating Biological Contactors (RBC),
- Submerged Aeration Filter (SAF),
- Sequential Batch Reactors (SBRs),
- Trickling filters
- Moving Bed Biofilm Reactors (MBBR)
Our biological wastewater treatment systems provide effective solutions to BOD reduction, aeration, clarification, phosphorous and nitrogen removal and more.
